Acerola/Barbados Cherry (Malpighia emarginata) is a tropical shrub bearing small, tart fruits. It is rich in vitamin C, and also contains vitamin A, thiamine, riboflavin, and niacin. Acerola is used in jams, jellies, and alcoholic beverages, as well as smoothies, salsa, or juice (see jugo de cereza). These 6" pots are expected to bear fruit in the next spring or two.
Requires temperatures above 50 degrees.
